Mashiur Rahman(19241979), also known as Mashiur Rahman Jadu Mia, was a Senior Minister, with the rank and status of a Prime Minister in charge of the ministry of Railways, Roads and Highways of the Bangladesh from 29 June 1978 to 12 March 1979. He was an instrumental in the founding of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party. 〔http://newagebd.com/newspaper1/archive_details.php?date=2011-07-09&nid=25551〕 The post of Prime Minister of Bangladesh was abolished 15 August 1975 as a consequence of the assassination of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman of that year, terminating the Prime Ministership of Muhammad Mansur Ali. After the rise to power of Ziaur Rahman, who became the 7th President of Bangladesh on 21 April 1977, a ministerial system was reestablished, and Mashiur Rahman served as the Chief Minister beginning in June 1978. It was planned to appoint him prime minister, but after his sudden death on 12 March 1979, Shah Azizur Rahman was appointed to the office on 15 April 1979. ==References==
